Thirty teams headed to the Autopro Challenge Short Course at Port Germein in the South Australian mid north the weekend of 20-21 June for the third round of the SAORRA Multi Club Series where, after an entertaining weekend of off road racing, #81 James Madden and Paul Frank took a convincing win with just under a 5minute lead to second place. Madden tussled with fellow Pro buggy racers #42 Wally and daughter Maree Francombe until drive shaft failure on Sunday morning in the Rids Racer relegated them to the pits.
Along with outright honours, James Madden and Paul Frank secured first in Pro class. Placing 5th outright, Sam Daniele picked up a well-earned second in class. Sam and Steven Vanstone #253 scored the Super 1650 class win. Curtis and Clive Randall recorded 22nd and fifth in class.
A great debut drive by #93 Lachlan James with Dad Aaron guiding his guiding his young charge saw the pair finish a very credible seventh outright and 4th in class. #36 Matthew and Garry Curtis in another father/son team were 19th outright after an amazing drive by son Matthew before driveshaft issues put them out of the running for outright positions. They came 5th in class.
Patrick and Peter Garnaut were unable to complete the event after breaking a front strut on Saturday.
