Century Batteries Wynarka Enduro

A fantastic weekend of racing was seen at Wynarka this year.

At the completion of Prologue, our members would be lining up for the start of section 1, 3 laps of the track, in the following positions: #36 Curtis/Lloyd – 2, #981 Madden/Petty – 3, #621 Whateley/Herrmann – 7, #623 Whateley/Carthew – 11, #176 Daniele – 12, #233 Tickner/Hook – 14, #126 Ward/Rampton – 18, #253 Vanstone/Vanstone – 21, #212 Curtis/Curtis – 26, #275 Read/Read – 27, #584 Ramm/Ramm – 28, #850 Piani/Lee – 31, #412 Smith/Mathison – 32 and #510 Garnaut/Garnaut – 35.

As usual for this event, the  vehicles start 2 at a time at 15 second intervals, which made for some great competition at the first corner and up the hill. #36 was second through the corner, #981 beat #902, #621 beat #106, #623 beat #176, #233 beat #257, #126 got #1120, #253 got #266, #212 was in a huge tussle with #671, #275 got #584, #850 got #412 and #510 put up a strong struggle with #670.

On the first of the 3 laps, #253 Vanstone/Vanstone, #623 Whateley/Carthew and #412 Smith/Mathison failed to finish, and #275 Read/Read were out on lap 2. However, if the vehicles could be repaired, they would be able to start Section 2 Sunday. #36 Curtis/Lloyd and #981 Madden/Petty were our front runners, with only 29 seconds separating them at the finish. #233 Tickner/Hook came in 7th, #176 Daniele 12th, #126 Ramm/Rampton 13th, #584 Ramm/Ramm 15th, #850 Piani/lee 22nd, #212 Randall/Randall 25th, #510 Garnaut/Garnaut 26th and #621 Whateley/Herrmann 30th, after having belt issues.

The vehicle of #253 Vanstone/Vanstone suffered gearbox issues on Saturday, which could not be fixed track side, so they took no further part in the event.

#36 Curtis/Lloyd were in control of the first lap of Section 2, only to have mechanical issues a short way into lap 2, retiring from the event. #412 Smith/Mathison, in the first time out for this pairing in the former Brett Reimann vehicle, got in 2 impressive laps, before also suffering mechanical issues, which saw them retire. #623 Whateley/Carthew completed 4 laps of Section 2, but did not finish lap 5, and they retired. #510 Garnaut/Garnaut had mixed luck on the weekend. With a couple of good lap times, and a couple of shockers, they completed 6 laps of Section 2, only to run out of late time. Patrick is very persistent, and gaining experience at every event entered. #621 Whateley/Herrmann completed 7 laps but had issues which prevented them from completing any further laps. #275 Read/Read completed all 10 laps Sunday, but was a fair way down the field due to not finishing section 1. #126 Ward/Rampton were pretty consistent throughout the event, except for 1 lap, where apparently they rolled. They managed to finish all laps though. #850 Piani/Lee were another pairing that were consistent throughout the whole event, and saw them complete all laps. The following vehicles all put in a stellar effort to complete their 10 laps, #212 Randall/Randall, #584 Ramm/Ramm, #176 Daniele, #233 Tickner/Hook and #981 Madden/Petty.

Although #981 Madden/Petty were the second car across the finish line, they were rewarded  with 1st outright, 1st in class, for the event, due to the Haby’s losing too much time on Saturday. Madden drove a great race all weekend. #233 Tickner/Hook gained 4th o/r, 1st in class, followed closely by #176 Daniele in 5th o/r, 2nd in class. Next was #584 Ramm/Ramm in 11th o/r and 1st in class,  #212 Randall/Randall 15th o/r, 6th in class, #850 Piani/Lee 17th o/r, 1st in class, and rounded out by #126 Ward/Rampton 19th o/r 6th in class.

To all our competitors, thanks for some great spectacles over the weekend.
